Great song! This was my first exposure to Joni Mitchell. I found her voice fascinating!

Fascinating is a good word for it. It just seems quite unique.

Ah, Joni Mitchell, heart throb of many a boy and truly a "one off" (a spitfire of a woman as well). Drugs, alcohol and tobacco, Martin Guitars, Ellen, you're killing me here.

That's my job, David. It's tough, but someone's gotta do it.

Al Kooper's book is a very fun read and covers SO much ground - it's unbelievable how his path crossed with so many other notable musicians over the years, on both coasts. After reading the book I found a 5-CD set of his first 5 Columbia solo records on Ebay, and have really been enjoying it. Not all great, but lots of very solid material that holds up well decades later.

That CD set is a great find. And I have to say I'm greatly enjoying his book too, for the reasons you give but also because he rails about the music industry and he's very funny.

You probably see where I'm going with all these AK mentions. I feel another creator series coming on!

I’m really enjoying this series of posts, as a big fan of Judy and Joni, Joan and other artists mentioned. Currently listening to vol. 3 of the JM Archives series; couple of other versions of ‘Help Me’ on there, alongside other wonders.

Glad you're enjoying it, Richard, and reveling in Joni's music. Joan is coming, so stay tuned.

If you listen to “Blue” and “Court and Spark” now, it’s beyond belief that she was doing that 50 years ago.

She is indeed phenomenal, and I'm hoping more people from younger generations will discover her timeless music as it is truly a gift.
